Chapter 34 - The Confrontation in the Vault The massive steel doors of the lower vault stood fully ajar, casting a stark white rectangular beam across the damp concrete floor. Inside, Elena stood back against the stainless-steel server racks, her breathing shallow as the scarred man approached her with measured, unhurried steps.

"The Genesis Project wasn't designed to create a criminal king, Elena," the scarred man said, his voice echoing off the stone walls. "It was designed to engineer a sovereign. A human being completely devoid of biological flaws, capable of running global financial and political networks without the emotional weaknesses that destroyed men like Dante Vatello."
"He's not your experiment, Director Vance," Elena spat, her voice trembling slightly with suppressed rage. "He's my son. And Dante's blood."
"Dante Vatello is a biological anomaly who survived a controlled hormonal suppression trial," the Director laughed softly, pulling a specialized cylindrical data drive from his coat pocket. "We gave Dante the illusion of infertility so he would build an empire worth inheriting. Everything he owns—every dollar, every corrupt judge, every square inch of concrete in Chicago—belongs to the consortium by corporate charter."
Before the Director could insert the data drive into the vault's master port, the stone corridor outside echoed with the sharp, heavy footsteps of combat boots.

"Director," a voice called out from the dark doorway—a voice that made the temperature in the vault drop twenty degrees. "You're trespassing."
The Director spun around, his hand moving toward a hidden holster beneath his coat—but Dante Vatello was already there.
