CHAPTER 8 — "THE ASSASSINS CLOSED IN... BUT EL DIABLO LED ELENA TO A SECRET THAT CHANGED EVERYTHING"

Night settled over the valley.
Police surrounded Garza Ranch.
Federal agents collected documents from the hidden vault.
Television crews reported that Don Alejandro Garza's empire was collapsing.
But Alejandro himself had vanished.
Miguel couldn't relax.
"He always has another move."
Late that evening, El Diablo suddenly became restless.
The stallion pawed at the ground.
He refused food.
Then he walked to the ranch gate and looked toward the mountains.
Again.
And again.
Elena noticed.
"He's trying to tell us something."
Without waiting for permission, she saddled El Diablo.
Miguel, Gabriel, and two trusted ranch hands followed on horseback.
The moon lit a narrow trail no one had used for years.
After nearly an hour, El Diablo stopped before a forgotten stone cabin hidden among ancient oak trees.
Its wooden door hung half open.
Dust covered everything inside.
At first, it looked abandoned.
Then Elena noticed a small carved horse on the fireplace mantel.
She picked it up.
Click.
A hidden compartment opened inside the wall.
There lay a metal box wrapped in oilcloth.
Inside was a bundle of letters...
And a velvet pouch.
Elena carefully opened the pouch.
A gold ring bearing the crest of Valle Verde Ranch rolled into her palm.
Gabriel's eyes widened.
"The family seal..."
Beneath it was another envelope addressed in Miguel's handwriting.
"For Elena—only if I cannot return."
Her hands trembled as she unfolded the letter.
My daughter... if you are reading this, it means the truth has finally begun to surface. But there is one secret I never told you. Alejandro was never the man truly in control. Someone far more powerful financed everything he built. If Garza falls, that person will come for you next. Trust no one except the horse. El Diablo remembers what people hide. He has saved our family once before... and he may have to do it again.
Silence filled the cabin.
Miguel slowly lowered his head.
"I hoped you'd never have to read that."
Before Elena could ask another question...
A red laser sight appeared on the cabin wall.
Then another.
Then five more.
Gabriel whispered,
"They found us..."
Outside, dark figures surrounded the cabin from every direction.
No voices.
No warnings.
Only the quiet sound of rifles being loaded.
The Shadow Wolves had arrived.
And their leader stepped into the moonlight...
Removed his mask...
Looked directly at Miguel...
And said words that made everyone's blood run cold.
"Hello, old friend."
May you like
The man smiled.
"I've waited twelve years to finish what we started."
