CHAPTER 9 — "THE ASSASSIN LOWERED HIS GUN... THEN REVEALED THE SECRET DON ALEJANDRO HAD KILLED TO HIDE"

The cabin fell into complete silence.
Seven red laser sights rested on Elena's chest.
One wrong move...
And it would all be over.
The masked men surrounded the cabin without making a sound.
Their leader stepped forward, his weathered face illuminated by the moonlight.
Miguel whispered in disbelief.
"Victor..."
The man nodded.
"It's been a long time."
Elena looked from one man to the other.
"You know him?"
Miguel closed his eyes.
"We served together in the army."
Years ago, Victor and Miguel had been inseparable.
Until money changed everything.
Alejandro had offered Victor a fortune to betray his closest friend.
Miguel believed Victor accepted.
He never saw him again.
Victor slowly raised his rifle.
Elena instinctively stepped in front of her father.
"If you're going to kill someone..."
"Kill me first."
Victor stared at her for several long seconds.
Then...
He pointed the rifle toward the ground.
Click.
The safety came on.
Every Shadow Wolf looked at him in confusion.
Victor turned toward his own men.
"The contract is over."
One mercenary shouted,
"What are you doing?"
Victor removed a thick envelope from inside his jacket and tossed it onto the wooden table.
It burst open.
Photographs scattered across the floor.
Bank statements.
Wire transfers.
Secret contracts.
And one faded photograph that froze everyone.
It showed a much younger Don Alejandro standing beside a wealthy man in an expensive suit.
The man's face had never appeared in public.
Victor spoke quietly.
"You've all been chasing the wrong monster."
"Alejandro was never the king."
"He was only the man collecting the money."
Gabriel slowly picked up the photograph.
His face turned pale.
"I know him..."
"His name is Ricardo Montoya."
"The richest land developer in the entire region."
Victor nodded.
"He wanted the valley."
"He wanted the water beneath the ranch."
"He ordered the fire."
"He ordered Miguel's death."
"And when Alejandro failed..."
"He hired us."
Elena looked toward the window.
"So this was never about a horse."
Victor shook his head.
"No."
"It was always about land."
"And your family refused to sell."
Before anyone could say another word...
A helicopter thundered overhead.
Its spotlight flooded the cabin with blinding white light.
Victor looked outside and whispered only one sentence.
"He's here."
The helicopter door slid open.
A silver-haired billionaire stepped onto the landing skid.
May you like
He smiled calmly.
Ricardo Montoya had come to finish the job himself.
