Chapter 14 - THE BATTLE FOR THE TRUSTWhile the children played in Central Park, a high-stakes emergency board meeting was underway inside the corporate headquarters of Vance Global Holdings on the fortieth floor.

Maxwell Thornton sat at the head of the polished glass conference table, flanked by corporate legal counsel and federal oversight officers. Across from them sat three senior managing directors who had spent decades quietly siphoning municipal development funds under Alistair Vance’s regime.
“Mr. Thornton, you have no legal standing to preside over this restructuring committee,” snapped Arthur Pendelton, the senior managing director, slamming a leather portfolio onto the glass. “Vance Global is a private equity trust. Unless you hold controlling shares, you have no authority here.”
The heavy frosted-glass doors of the boardroom clicked open.
The room went instantly silent.
Liam walked in, wearing his signature charcoal overcoat, carrying a single manila folder under his arm. He didn't sit at the back; he walked straight to the empty chair beside Maxwell, dropped the folder onto the glass, and sat down with absolute, chilling authority.
“Arthur,” Liam said smoothly, his voice cutting through the tense atmosphere like a scalpel. “You dropped your secondary audit trail.”
Pendelton’s face drained of color. “What are you talking about?”
“I’m talking about the offshore shell companies you used to embezzle three point two million dollars from the Central Park restoration fund,” Liam replied, opening the folder and sliding several printed financial spreadsheets across the table. “Federal marshals are currently seizing your personal accounts in Zurich and the Caymans.”
Pendelton sprang to his feet, knocking his chair backward. “You can’t do this! You’re a child! You don't have the legal capacity—”

“I control seventy-four percent of the voting stock in this holding trust, and my legal guardian has co-signed every punitive asset forfeiture clause,” Liam interrupted, his dark eyes locking onto Pendelton with terrifying calm. “Security will escort you out now.”
Before Pendelton could argue further, two federal agents in dark suits stepped out from the corridor behind the conference room, placing heavy steel handcuffs onto his wrists before leading him away in stunned silence.
