Chapter 7 - THE FALL OF THE BROKEREvelyn Vance scrambled backward, her expensive heels clicking frantically against the floor, but she backed straight into a stack of metal drums.

Liam stepped into the flickering light of the dying sparks, his dark eyes locked onto Evelyn with terrifying composure. He tossed a heavy, encrypted flash drive onto the floor right at her feet.

“What is this?” Evelyn hissed, her voice trembling.

“That is the complete financial ledger of every illegal adoption front you’ve run for the past decade,” Liam said smoothly, his voice carrying the icy authority of a seasoned executive. “Federal marshals are already securing your main offices in Boston and Washington. Your network is dismantled.”

The silver-haired man tried to slip toward the side exit, but Maxwell moved with lightning speed, tackling him across a wooden pallet and pinning him to the floor with his knee pressed hard against the man's chest.

“You’re not going anywhere,” Maxwell growled, pulling zip-ties from his jacket and binding the man’s wrists behind his back with practiced efficiency.

Martha Reynolds walked over, wiping her eyes, and pulled Ember into a fierce, sobbing embrace. “Oh, my sweet girl… you’re safe. You’re finally safe.”

Ember buried her face in Martha’s coat, then looked up at Maxwell, her red curls framing a wide, tearful smile. “You came back for me.”

“Always,” Maxwell said softly, kneeling down to look her in the eye. “Nobody leaves this family.”
