Chapter 25 - The Quantum SiphonThe breaching charge detonated with a muffled, concussive thump, shearing the heavy steel locking bolts clean off the frame. Nora kicked the smoking door inward, plunging into the chilled, neon-lit interior of the quantum core chamber.

Rows of towering server racks hummed with a deafening, high-pitched whine, casting an eerie blue light across the sterile room. In the center of the chamber stood the master terminal—a massive, reinforced glass-encased console displaying the real-time global telemetry of Elias Voss’s shadow network.

"I'm in," Nora announced, sliding her custom interface cable directly into the master bus port. Her fingers flew across the keyboard as lines of golden code cascaded across the primary monitor. "Downloading the entire ledger... financial transfers, offshore shell companies, black-site operational logs, and the authorization orders for Mara's abduction five years ago."

Suddenly, the red emergency klaxons overhead began to spin, filling the room with an urgent, strobe-like crimson pulse. A harsh, automated female voice echoed through the facility speakers: WARNING. UNAUTHORIZED DATA EXTRACTION DETECTED IN SECTOR 4. LOCKDOWN INITIATED.

"They know we're here," Grant said, spinning around and raising his rifle toward the heavy entryway as the heavy steel bulkhead doors began to slide shut from above. "Nora, how much longer?"

"Sixty seconds!" Nora yelled, sweat beading on her forehead as she hammered the enter key. "The data packet is massive! If you pull the cable now, the broadcast will corrupt!"

Heavy footfalls echoed loudly down the steel corridor outside. Tactical reinforcements were swarming the level, their boots ringing out against the metal grating.

Mara stepped forward, planting her boots firmly on the grated floor beside Grant, her sidearm raised and ready. "You protect Nora's back, Grant. I'll hold the corridor."

"Mara, no—" Grant started, but she was already gone, slipping out through the narrowing gap in the bulkhead door into the dim hallway beyond.

The sound of suppressed gunfire erupted instantly from the corridor—sharp, rhythmic, and terrifyingly precise. Muzzle flashes illuminated the dim metal walls as Mara waged a one-woman defensive war against an entire squad of elite Vanguard operatives, giving Nora the precious seconds she needed to finish the download.
