Chapter 6 - Handcuffs and Heritage"Daria Kincaid," the lead federal investigator announced, his voice booming across the silent hall as he stepped forward with a pair of cold, steel handcuffs. "You are under arrest for conspiracy to commit kidnapping, falsification of government documents, extortion, and attempted murder."

"This is a farce! A digital deepfake!" Daria screamed, her composure finally shattering completely as she lashed out, sweeping a stack of crystal water glasses off the table. They shattered into a million pieces against the floor. "My son is insane! He’s grieving a dead woman! Arrest him!"

She lunged toward me like a cornered tigress, her fingernails clawing for my face, but the federal agents intercepted her instantly, pinning her arms behind her back with practiced efficiency.

The metallic click of the handcuffs locking around her wrists was the sweetest sound I had ever heard.

"Look at me, Mother," I whispered softly as they dragged her past my chair.

She stopped, turning her distorted, furious face toward mine, venom dripping from her eyes.

"You'll never keep the company," she spat. "The board will never let a man controlled by a ghost run Kincaid Enterprises."

"Actually," a calm voice interrupted from the end of the table.

It was Arthur Sterling, the oldest and most respected member of the board, who slowly stood up, pushing his glasses up his nose. He looked at Daria with profound disgust, then turned his gaze to me.

"According to the founding charter of Kincaid Enterprises," Arthur said clearly, "if the primary heir is proven to have a surviving direct lineage, control of the executive voting shares instantly reverts to the primary spouse and heir. Since Catherine Kincaid is alive... and holding your daughter... she is legally the majority shareholder as of this second."

Daria let out a choked, primal cry of sheer fury as the agents forced her out of the double doors, her reign of terror finally coming crashing down in total ruin.
