Chapter 20 - The Unbroken Circle

The waves rolled onto the shore in a steady, peaceful rhythm, washing away our footprints in the sand as fast as we made them.

For the first time in fifteen years, the black case was empty. The satellite phone was gone. The enemies were locked away. And the shadows that had tried to claim our lives had been burned away by the harsh, brilliant light of truth.

Lily rested her head gently on my shoulder, letting out a long, contented sigh.

"Dad?" she whispered softly.

"Yeah, sweetie?"

"I love you."

I kissed the top of her head, feeling a profound, unshakeable peace settle deep into my soul.

May you like

"I love you too, Lily. Forever."

And as the stars began to twinkle across the vast night sky, for the first time in a lifetime, the world felt entirely at peace.
