Chapter 2 - THE MIDNIGHT EVICTIONWithin thirty minutes, the grand estate was alive with chaotic motion. Adrian hadn’t called the police—not yet. Police squads were too quiet, too slow for the vengeance brewing in his chest. Instead, he summoned the estate's private security detail and his high-powered corporate legal team.

Vanessa stood in the center of the foyer, her designer luggage slammed against the marble floor. Her face was flushed with panic, the mask of innocence completely shattered.

"Adrian, you can't throw me out like a stray dog! We are legally married! I have rights to this house, to the assets!" Vanessa shrieked, dropping the sweet-stepmother act entirely as two burly security guards blocked the front doors.

"Rights?" Adrian descended the grand staircase, his leather shoes clicking sharply against the steps. In his hand, he held a sleek flash drive containing the kitchen camera footage, backed up to three secure cloud servers. "You forfeited every right you ever had the moment you tried to murder my daughter for her inheritance."

"Inheritance?" Vanessa laughed hysterically, her eyes wild. "You think I wanted her money? I wanted control, Adrian! You were leaving everything to her trust fund on her twenty-first birthday! I was going to be left with nothing!"

"And now," Adrian said smoothly, stopping two feet away from her, "you'll be left behind bars. My lawyers have already filed an emergency injunction freezing all your personal accounts, revoking your power of attorney, and submitting the unedited video files to the District Attorney's office."

Vanessa lunged forward, her nails clawing toward his face, but the guards intercepted her instantly, pinning her arms behind her back.

"You'll ruin me?!" Vanessa spat, foam collecting at the corners of her mouth. "If I go down, I’m taking your precious family name with me! I know things about your company, Adrian! Dirty things!"

"Tell it to the judge," Adrian replied coldly, turning his back on her. "Get her off my property."

As the heavy oak doors slammed shut behind a screaming Vanessa, Adrian thought the nightmare was over. He had no idea that Vanessa’s expulsion was only the opening move of a much deeper, far more sinister conspiracy.
