Chapter 4 - THE HOSTILE TAKEOVERAll heads whipped toward the doorway. Standing there, leaning casually against the doorframe with a smug, mocking smile, was Julian Vance himself. Behind him stood four armed private mercenaries and a dozen corporate board members.

"Julian? How the hell did you get past the security gates?" Adrian barked, jumping to his feet, instinctively shielding Sophie behind him.

"Security gates are easily bypassed when you own the security company's primary contract, dear Adrian," Julian chuckled smoothly, adjusting his expensive silk tie. "Vanessa was a bit clumsy, I'll admit. I told her poisoning was too theatrical. But desperate times call for desperate measures when you want a hostile takeover expedited."

Adrian’s eyes narrowed into slits of pure fury. "You used my wife to try and murder my daughter just for corporate shares? You sick bastard."

"Business is business, old friend," Julian replied coolly, stepping further into the room while signaling his guards to fan out. "And right now, the board has emergency-convened via video conference. With your voting rights temporarily suspended due to a pending criminal negligence investigation involving your household, I am calling an emergency vote."

Sophie stared at Julian in horror. "What investigation? There is no investigation against my dad!"

"There is now," Julian grinned maliciously, pulling out his smartphone and tapping the screen. "An anonymous tip was just filed with the SEC and local authorities claiming Adrian Vance embezzled funds from the children's medical foundation to cover up his daughter's fake allergies. A warrant for his arrest is currently being processed."

Adrian realized the trap had snapped shut completely. Vanessa’s arrest wasn't just an expulsion—it was the bait that drew Adrian’s attention away from the boardroom blindsiding.

"You think you've won," Adrian said, his voice terrifyingly calm as he reached slowly into his inner jacket pocket. "You think because you bought the board and fabricated a few documents, you own everything I've built."

"I don't think so, Adrian," Julian laughed, raising his hand to signal the board members on his tablet. "I know so."
