Chapter 7 - THE FINAL STAND IN THE LIBRARY!Smoke billowed through the high vaulted ceilings of the Moretti mansion as the last wave of mercenaries was systematically neutralized. The floor of the Grand Gallery was littered with tactical gear and spent brass casings. Rocco walked through the wreckage, his suit jacket torn, a fresh graze on his shoulder, but his eyes burning with absolute dominance.

"Sweep the perimeter," Rocco ordered his remaining men into the comms headset. "Find out if any commanders survived."

Suddenly, a loud, metallic thud echoed from the private library wing—deep within the secure zone where the panic room was hidden.

Rocco’s blood ran cold. The panic room.

He sprinted down the hallway, kicking open the heavy oak doors of the library. Standing in front of the hidden wall panel was a tall, scarred man in a custom gray suit—Victor Vance, the head of the Syndicate council and Valentina's uncle. In his arm, he held a weapon pointed directly at Elena Bellini, who was shielding Sophia and the newborn behind her.

"Drop your weapons, Rocco!" Victor sneered, his finger twitching nervously on the trigger. "One step closer, and I turn your little bastard and these peasants into red mist!"

Rocco stopped instantly, his hands slowly rising to his sides. His expression was a mask of cold fury, but inside, his tactical mind was racing at light speed.

"Victor. You're a long way from Rome," Rocco said, keeping his voice dangerously steady. "Let the woman and the children go. This is between you and me."

"Oh, it is between us," Victor laughed darkly. "You thought you could build an empire and lock us out? Valentina was supposed to ensure our control from the inside. When she failed, I had to finish the job myself." Victor shifted his aim slightly toward eight-year-old Sophia, who was glaring at him with pure hatred. "Starting with this brat who ruined everything by poking her nose where it didn't belong."
