Chapter 13 - THE ACCOUNTANT’S TRAP!A tall, impeccably dressed man stepped out of the shadows of the second-floor landing. Dominic Vance wore a charcoal-gray three-piece suit, his silver-rimmed glasses gleaming under the red emergency lights. Unlike his violent brother Victor, Dominic looked more like a university professor than a mafia mastermind—which made him a hundred times more dangerous.

"Rocco Moretti," Dominic said smoothly, leaning against the polished banister. "Always the dramatic host. You really thought cutting off the Syndicate's muscle in Palermo would kill the beast? We are the brain. The muscle was just an expendable limb."

"You killed your own brother's chances when you let him walk into a slaughterhouse," Rocco replied coldly, raising his pistol and locking sights on Dominic's chest.

Dominic chuckled softly, not showing an ounce of fear. "Victor was a brute. A liability. His death was a necessary write-off in my ledger." He tilted his head. "Speaking of ledgers... you've been very busy transferring Moretti assets into a blind trust managed by a certain brilliant young law student named Sophia Bellini."

Rocco’s finger tightened slightly on the trigger. "Leave her out of this. This is between you and me."

"Oh, but she made it her business when she started digging into Vesper Corp," Dominic smiled, snapping his fingers.

Suddenly, two masked mercenaries stepped out from the shadows behind Dominic, dragging a struggling Elena Bellini between them. Elena had a gag over her mouth, and her eyes were wide with terror.

Rocco’s blood ran cold. He hadn't accounted for them bypassing the secondary estate wing.

"Drop your weapon, Rocco, or the maid joins the long list of tragic accidents associated with the Moretti estate," Dominic ordered, his voice turning ice-cold.
