Chapter 3 - THE CONSIGLIERE’S CONFESSIONValentina clawed desperately at Rocco's iron grip, her face turning a deep, suffocating purple. "Rocco... please... I... I didn't..." she choked out.

"Drop her," a calm, chilling voice intervened from across the table.
Rocco paused, his dark eyes shifting sideways. It was Marcus, his trusted consigliere of fifteen years, the man who handled his offshore accounts, legal loopholes, and silent executions. Marcus remained seated, leisurely cleaning his gold-rimmed glasses with a silk handkerchief.
Rocco slowly lowered Valentina, letting her collapse onto the marble floor, gasping for air. He turned his full attention to his right-hand man. "Marcus? What did you say?"
Marcus slowly stood up, sliding his glasses back onto his face. The submissive, loyal expression he had worn for over a decade was completely gone, replaced by a cold, calculating smirk.
"I said drop her, boss," Marcus repeated smoothly. "Because choking her won't change the math. You're looking in the wrong direction. Valentina didn't throw the baby in the trash. I did."
The room froze in absolute horror. Elena Bellini pulled Sophia behind her skirt, while the guards instinctively unholstered their firearms, aiming directly at the consigliere.
"Explain yourself," Rocco whispered, the sheer venom in his tone enough to freeze fire.
"You've grown soft, Rocco," Marcus said, walking casually toward the liquor cabinet and pouring himself a glass of whiskey. "You spend all your time building empires, trusting systems, and forgetting who actually maintains the machinery. A legitimate heir changes the succession lines. It ruins the corporate restructuring we planned with the Syndicate." Marcus took a slow sip. "The boy had to disappear so the council could take over cleanly."
"You betrayed the Moretti family," Rocco stated, his muscles tensing like a coiled spring.
"I saved the Moretti family from your sentimentality," Marcus corrected sharply, his smile fading. He reached into his suit jacket. "And honestly, boss? I didn't plan on leaving loose ends. Sophia just happened to be awake at the wrong time."
