Chapter 8 - SOPHIA’S STRIKE!The heavy iron poker spun through the air like a guided missile, catching Victor squarely across the bridge of his nose with a sickening crunch.

Victor shrieked in agony, stumbling backward and accidentally pulling the trigger. The bullet slammed harmlessly into the wooden bookshelf, sending a shower of old leather-bound volumes raining down.
That microsecond of distraction was all Rocco needed.
Moving with the speed of a striking predator, Rocco drew his concealed pistol and fired a single, precise shot. The bullet struck Victor directly in his right shoulder, spinning him around and causing his weapon to clatter onto the Persian rug.
Before Victor could recover, Rocco crossed the room in three strides, grabbing him by the throat and slamming him violently against the oak bookshelf. Glass frames shattered as Victor's weight cracked the wood.
"You touch a hair on their heads," Rocco whispered, pressing the cold barrel of his gun right against Victor's forehead, "and I won't just kill you. I will dismantle every asset, shell company, and family member bearing your name until your entire bloodline is erased from history."
Victor choked, blood dripping from his broken nose, staring into the abyss of Rocco's eyes. He knew he had lost. "Do... do it..." he gasped.
Rocco didn't pull the trigger immediately. Instead, he struck Victor across the temple with the heavy grip of his gun, knocking him out cold onto the floor.
Elena slumped against the wall in relief, breathing heavily, while holding the baby safe against her chest. Sophia stood tall, her chest puffed out, looking up at the mafia boss like he was a giant protector.
Rocco holstered his weapon, walking over to Elena and the newborn. He gently brushed a stray curl from Sophia's forehead, a rare, genuine smile touching the corners of his lips.

"You saved my son, Sophia," Rocco said softly. "And you saved me. You have earned a debt from the Moretti family that can never be repaid."
The threat is crushed, but what does the future hold for Rocco, Elena, and brave little Sophia?
