Chapter 11 - The Quiet After the Storm

The morning sun filtered through the high, arched windows of the Rinaldi estate, casting long, golden patterns across the polished marble floors. For the first time in years, the grand mansion felt less like a fortress and more like a home.

Serena stood by the kitchen island, expertly flipping a row of golden-brown pancakes while the scent of fresh espresso and maple syrup filled the air.

“If you flip that one too early, it’ll stick,” a low, familiar voice murmured near her ear.

Vittorio stepped up beside her, his shirtsleeves rolled up to his elbows, looking more relaxed than Serena had ever seen him. He reached past her to grab a clean plate, his hand brushing against hers with a deliberate, lingering warmth that made her pulse flutter.

“I’ve been cooking longer than you’ve been running real estate empires, Mr. Rinaldi,” Serena retorted, though a smile broke through her lips.

“Call me Vittorio,” he corrected softly, his dark eyes locking onto hers with a smoldering intensity. “At least when we aren't performing for the boys.”

At the far end of the table, Leo, Marco, Julian, and the twins were engaged in a surprisingly civil debate over who deserved the last blueberry muffin. The chaotic energy that had once defined their mornings had melted into something grounded, anchored by the presence of Lucia, who sat right between Leo and Marco, chatting happily about her art project.

The shadow of Daniel Vance had been legally and physically removed from their lives. The federal freezing of his assets had initiated a cascading collapse of his fraudulent operations, ensuring he would spend years behind bars instead of scheming against innocent families.

Yet, as Serena handed a stack of pancakes to Vittorio, a strange prickle at the back of her neck warned her that peace in the Rinaldi world was never absolute.
