Chapter 15 - The Monday Morning BoardroomThe forty-second-floor boardroom of Rinaldi Global Towers overlooked the entire Manhattan skyline.

The mahogany conference table stretched twenty feet across the room, surrounded by leather chairs occupied by the older, stone-faced members of the corporate board. At the head of the table sat Vivian Sterling, wearing an expression of absolute triumph.

“As acting chair of the legacy committee,” Vivian announced, opening a leather-bound folder before her, “I call this emergency session to order. Given the recent scandals involving Mr. Rinaldi's household and the legal instability of his domestic arrangements, we are moving to enact Clause 9-B: stripping him of managerial control.”

Murmurs of agreement rippled through several board members who owed their seats to the Sterling family.

Vivian smiled, looking directly at Vittorio, who sat calmly near the center, hands folded on the table.

“Do you have any final words, Vittorio, before we vote to dismantle your empire?” Vivian asked smoothly.

Vittorio didn't blink. He simply turned his head toward the massive glass doors at the end of the boardroom.

“I wouldn't call it a dismantling, Vivian,” Vittorio said smoothly. “I’d call it an eviction.”

The heavy oak doors swung open.

Serena Valente walked into the boardroom. She was dressed in a sharp, tailored navy pantsuit, her posture impeccable, carrying a thick leather briefcase. Behind her walked two federal marshals and a representative from the New York State Banking Commission.

Vivian’s smug smile instantly vanished, replaced by a mask of pale shock.
