Chapter 33 - The Forgotten Heir

The revelation sent a heavy silence through the conference room. For all our investigations, for all the deep-dive audits Julian Vance and I had conducted during the hostile takeover of the Lake Geneva estate, this hidden branch of the family tree had remained entirely obscured.

"An unknown uncle," Caleb said, his legal mind analyzing the implications instantly. "If he holds a legitimate bloodline claim under Arthur’s secret codicil, and we don't contest it before the midnight deadline, he could legally seize Veritas Holdings and use its assets to destabilize our philanthropic initiatives."

"He's not just coming for the trust, Caleb," I said, straightening up as the fierce, protective fire ignited deep within my chest. "He’s coming for us. He’s been raised on the poisonous mythology of the old Montgomery dynasty—convinced that we stole what was rightfully his birthright."

"Then we don't wait for him to make the first move," Liam declared, stepping forward, his gray eyes flashing with determination. "Where is he?"

"According to the flight manifests," Harris reported over the internal comms, "his private jet landed at O'Hare International twenty minutes ago. He’s heading directly toward our downtown tower."

I looked at my sons, then toward the floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the sprawling Chicago skyline.

"Let him come," I said, a calm, terrifying smile touching my lips. "Let’s see what the next generation of Montgomerys has to offer."
