Chapter 10 - DAWN OVER THE BAYThe sun was just beginning to peek over the horizon, painting the ocean in brilliant shades of gold, amber, and rose.

The estate was quiet. The federal investigation was officially closed, the stolen patents were fully recovered, and the cloud that had hung over their lives for two years was finally, permanently blown away.
Out on the back veranda, Alejandro stood leaning against the wooden railing, watching the waves crash against the shore.
Footsteps approached softly behind him. He didn't need to turn around to know who it was.
Elena stepped up beside him. She wasn't wearing her light beige cardigan anymore, nor was she the frightened, running nurse hiding in the shadows. She wore a simple white linen dress, her hair blowing softly in the morning breeze. In her arms, Gabriel was awake, babbling happily as he reached out toward the rising sun.
Alejandro reached out, gently wrapping his arm around Elena’s waist, pulling her close against his side. She leaned her head against his shoulder, her breath mixing with his in the cool morning air.
"It’s over," Alejandro murmured, his voice thick with emotion. "Really over."

Elena turned her head, looking up into his dark eyes. The man who had once been a cold, distant billionaire was gone; in his place was a father, a partner, a man who had fought through hell to earn her trust.
"Not over," Elena smiled softly, pressing a gentle kiss to his cheek. "Just beginning."
