The grand chamber fell quiet once more, save for the crackling of a wood fire in the massive stone hearth.
Alejandro walked slowly back toward Elena, his pistol holstered, his expression a mix of lingering adrenaline and overwhelming awe. He stopped in front of her, gently reaching out to cup her cheek with his thumb.
"You saw right through it," Alejandro breathed, a rare, breathtaking smile breaking across his face. "How did you know?"
"A nurse learns to read the fine print when her patients' lives are on the line," Elena replied softly, leaning into his touch as the tension finally drained from her body. "They thought they could intimidate us with old money and big rooms. They forgot we’ve already survived hell."
"We have," Alejandro agreed, pulling her and Gabriel into a fierce, protective embrace, shielding them from the cold stone walls of the mansion. "And it’s time to go home."
Two days later, their private jet touched down back on home soil. The nightmare of Geneva was officially over, the last remnants of Isabella’s syndicate utterly eradicated, and the Ruiz-Monteverde foundation finally free from external shadows.
Yet, as they drove back toward the oceanfront estate under the warm afternoon sun, Elena felt a strange, profound shift in the air. The war was won. Now came the hardest part: actually living.
