Chapter 17 - THE PROMISE ON THE SHORE"Elena," Alejandro began, his voice rough with emotion.

He reached into his jacket pocket and pulled out a small, velvet jeweler’s box. He didn't drop to one knee—he didn't need to. He stood shoulder-to-shoulder with her, as an absolute equal, as a partner in every sense of the word.

He opened the box. Inside rested a ring crafted from brushed platinum, embedded with a single, flawless white diamond flanked by two small, deep blue sapphires—symbolizing the hospital, the ocean, and their son.

"When I first met you, I thought control was everything," Alejandro said, looking deep into her eyes. "I thought I could buy protection, build walls, and keep pain away with money and power. You proved to me that real strength isn't about control. It’s about trust. It’s about standing together in the dark and refusing to let go."

Tears welled in Elena’s eyes, spilling over her lashes as she looked down at the ring, then back up into the face of the man who had torn her world apart and then rebuilt it with his bare hands.

"Alejandro..." she whispered, her voice choking up.

"I don't want a transaction, Elena. I don't want a corporate merger," he said softly, his voice steady and absolute. "I want a life. With you. Will you marry me?"

Elena didn't hesitate. The past pain, the fear, the running—it all melted away into the warm ocean breeze.

"Yes," she whispered, throwing her arms around his neck as he slid the platinum ring onto her finger. "Yes, Alejandro. A thousand times, yes."

He pulled her into a deep, passionate kiss, sealing their past, their present, and their future into a single, perfect moment.
