Chapter 10 - A New FoundationSix months later, the courtroom trial concluded with swift and absolute justice.

Teresa Bradley was sentenced to twelve years in federal prison for grand larceny, elder exploitation, forgery, and conspiracy. Because of her toxic betrayal, not a single relative who had participated in her schemes or eaten at her stolen barbecue dared to show their faces in court; most had already blocked her number, realizing her empire of manipulation had turned to dust.

David Vance received an even harsher sentence for corporate corruption and racketeering, ensuring he would spend the best years of his life behind bars.

The courts restored all of our properties, bank accounts, and assets, along with a hefty restitution settlement seized from Teresa and David’s hidden offshore accounts.

We sold the old house where the nightmare had begun. With the proceeds and the settlement, Amy, little Frederick, and I moved into a sunlit, peaceful home near the countryside—a house with a wide green lawn, a modern kitchen where Amy could cook without fear, and a sturdy front door that only opened for people who brought love, respect, and kindness.

That Friday evening, as the sun dipped below the Nashville horizon, I stood on our new back porch, grilling steaks for a quiet family dinner.

Amy walked out onto the wooden deck, wearing the blue dress I had bought her a year ago—the one she had never dared to wear. She looked stunning, her eyes bright and filled with peace, holding a healthy, laughing Frederick in her arms.

She walked up to me, wrapped her arms around my waist, and rested her head against my chest.

“What are you thinking about, Connor?” she asked softly.

I looked down at my son, then kissed the top of my wife's head, smiling as I felt the solid, unshakeable warmth of our new life together.
