Chapter 4 - The Voice That Shattered the LieThe speakers in the interrogation room suddenly came alive.

“Your wife is only good for giving birth and washing dishes. If she doesn't scrub those pots until they shine, lock her in the pantry.”

Teresa’s triumphant smirk vanished instantly. Her jaw dropped as her own voice echoed off the concrete walls of the precinct.

I didn't stop there. I swiped to the next video file. It showed footage from the kitchen taken two weeks prior: Teresa forcefully snatching a crying Frederick from Amy’s arms, shoving Amy against the counter, and hissing, “If you tell Connor a single word about the money or the relatives coming over, I’ll make sure you never see this baby again.”

Then came the audio recording of Mason and Teresa dividing up the stolen cash in the living room, laughing about how stupid I was for working twelve-hour shifts on construction sites while they lived like royalty on my dime.

“Where... where did you get those?” Teresa stammered, her face turning pale, all the color draining from her cheeks. Her hands trembled as she clutched the edge of the metal table.

“I’m a construction engineer, Mom,” I said coldly, locking my phone and sliding it back into my pocket. “I build foundations that stand strong against earthquakes. Did you really think I wouldn't notice the cracks in my own home?”

Officer Vance opened the door behind me, holding a fresh stack of documents. “Mrs. Bradley, we’ve just received warrants to search your safety deposit boxes at First National Bank. Preliminary estimates show over four hundred thousand dollars in hidden assets. Add that to the grand larceny and forgery charges.”

Teresa slumped back in her chair, finally realizing her reign of terror had come to an absolute, unescapable end.
