Chapter 16 - Sarah's AceJulian raised the pistol, aiming it directly at Elena’s heart.

Arthur lunged forward, but Marcus grabbed his ankle, tripping him. Julian smirked, tightening his finger on the trigger.

"Say goodbye, family," Julian whispered.

Click.

The gun jammed.

Julian frowned, tapping the slide of the pistol in confusion. He pulled the trigger again. Nothing.

From the top of the stairs, a soft, cold voice cut through the tension. "You shouldn't cheap-out on black-market weapons, Julian. I modified the firing pins twenty minutes ago."

It was Sarah. She stood at the landing, holding a heavy-duty industrial EMP jammer in one hand and a smartphone broadcasting live to every major news outlet in the country in the other.

Julian’s face drained of color. "You..."

"Me," Sarah smiled, stepping forward. "While you were monologuing, I uploaded every single financial transaction, medical record, and confession straight to federal servers and live social media. The entire world is watching you right now, Julian."
