Chapter 6 - The Bloodline Twist

I stood motionless in the elevator as the doors closed. "What did you say?"

"Marcus Vance filed an urgent motion claiming you had an affair during your marriage," Jonathan explained, his jaw tight. "They are attempting to invalidate the trust’s inheritance provisions by proving the twins do not carry the Vance bloodline. If the judge grants a temporary injunction based on paternity doubts, the trust assets will be frozen in probate court for months."

I closed my eyes, taking a slow, painful breath. The physical strain of standing was beginning to tear at my surgical stitches, but I refused to show weakness.

"Flynn knows those are his children," I said, my voice dripping with venom. "He knows I never looked at another man."

"It doesn't matter what he knows, Claire. It's a delay tactic," Jonathan said. "If he freezes the trust, Vance Enterprises' stock will plummet, and he can force a financial settlement just to keep the company from collapsing."

"Then we give them the DNA test," I said firmly. "Today."

Three hours later, court-appointed technicians arrived at my private estate to collect cheek swabs from Leo and Maya, as well as a blood sample from me. Flynn stood in the driveway, flanked by Marcus and a team of news reporters he had secretly invited to document my "humiliation."

"Just admit it, Claire!" Flynn yelled across the lawn as reporters pointed microphones at him. "You lied to me! You were using those babies to trap my family's legacy!"

I walked out onto the marble veranda, cradling my children. I didn't hide from the cameras. I looked directly into the lenses.

"Flynn," I said, my voice carrying clearly across the quiet estate. "You wanted a paternity test. You'll get one. But when the results come back, I want you to remember this moment. Because the truth won't just destroy your legal case—it will dismantle your entire life."
