Chapter 8 - The Fall of the Conspirators

The next morning, the probate court was packed with press, attorneys, and spectators. Flynn sat at the defense table, wearing a smug smile, confident that his paternity challenge had successfully stalled my takeover.

The judge slammed her gavel down. "We are here to review the expedited biological findings for the Hart-Vance infants, as well as the emergency petition for asset control."

Marcus Vance stood up proudly. "Your Honor, my client Flynn Vance was ruthlessly manipulated by a woman who sought to hide her infidelity and steal his corporate enterprise. We demand the trust be voided!"

"Are you finished, Mr. Vance?" the judge asked dryly. She opened an envelope stamped with the official seal of the state forensic lab.

Flynn leaned forward, a triumphant grin spreading across his face.

"The DNA results are conclusive," the judge read aloud. "Flynn Vance is indeed the biological father of Leo and Maya Hart-Vance."

Flynn's grin froze. "What?" he blurted out. "No, wait—Marcus said—"

"However," the judge continued, her expression turning stern, "the court has also received an emergency submission from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, attached to this case file."

The courtroom went dead silent.

Jonathan Mercer stood up, connecting his laptop to the court’s projection screen.

"Your Honor," Jonathan said, "we present the full contents of The Vance File, left behind by the late William Hart. This file contains ten years of bank statements, encrypted emails, and recorded phone calls proving that Flynn Vance and Marcus Vance engaged in corporate fraud, insider trading, and systematic embezzlement from the Hart Foundation."

On the large screens hanging in the courtroom, financial ledgers began flashing, showing millions of dollars illicitly routed from Vance Enterprises into offshore accounts managed by Marcus Vance—cash meant to bankrupt the company right after my death.
