Chapter 19 - Sentence of Silence

Three weeks later, the final verdicts were handed down in the federal district court.

Brenda Foster: Convicted on all counts of money laundering, wire fraud, and conspiracy to commit murder. Sentenced to 28 years in federal prison without possibility of parole.

Richard Howard: Convicted of corporate espionage and grand larceny. Stripped of all St. Luke shares and sentenced to 20 years.

Gemma Salas: Sentenced to 8 years in a medium-security facility for her role in the hospital sabotage.

Andrew Foster: Convicted of grand theft, bank fraud, and extortion. Sentenced to 14 years in state prison.

On the day Andrew was transported to the state penitentiary, a warden delivered a letter to my hospital office. The envelope was stamped with Andrew’s prisoner ID number.

I opened the letter. Written in shaky, desperate handwriting were six pages of begging:
