Chapter 20 - A Vow at Sunrise

One year later.
The morning sun was rising over the breathtaking cliffs of the Texas Hill Country, painting the sky in brilliant hues of gold, pink, and violet.
A floral archway of white roses and jasmine stood at the edge of the overlook, where fifty of our closest friends, colleagues, and hospital staff were gathered.
I stood in front of the full-length mirror inside the bridal suite. My gown was a custom creation of pure silk, flowing gracefully to the floor, radiating elegance and freedom. There were no stains, no rush, no emergency calls, and no deceit.
A soft knock sounded at the door. Paisley ran inside, wearing a matching miniature dress, holding a basket of rose petals.
"Dr. Sam! You look like a real princess!" she cheered, wrapping her arms around my waist.
"Thank you, sweetie," I smiled, bending down to kiss her forehead. "Are you ready?"
"Daddy is waiting!" she beamed.
I stepped out onto the green lawn, taking a deep breath of the fresh morning air. Standing at the altar under the golden sunlight was Zachary. He looked striking in a tailored black tuxedo, his eyes locked onto mine with an intensity that made my heart leap.
As I walked down the aisle toward him, there were no shadows of the past remaining—only the bright, beautiful path of our future.
When I reached him, Zachary took both of my hands in his. He leaned in close, his voice thick with deep, genuine emotion.
"Samantha," Zachary said, looking straight into my eyes. "One year ago, you saved my daughter. Then you saved my life. But today, and for every day that follows, I promise to spend the rest of my life protecting yours. You will never have to choose between saving others and being cherished again."
Tears of pure joy filled my eyes as I smiled up at him. "I love you, Zachary."
"I love you, Dr. Miller," he whispered.
May you like
The officiant smiled. "By the authority vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss your bride."
Zachary pulled me into his arms, kissing me deeply as the crowd erupted into ecstatic cheers and applause. High above the cliffs, the morning sun broke fully over the horizon, bathing us in pure, unshakeable light.
