Chapter 3 - The Board Member's Shield

Zachary stepped out of the vehicle, adjusting the cuffs of his dark suit. He didn't rush. He walked with the heavy, unshakeable authority of a man who owned the air he breathed.
Brenda looked at him, her eyes narrowing as she tried to place his face. "And who are you? Her driver? Tell her to pack what's left in those garbage bags and clear out."
Zachary pulled out his phone, made a quick tap, and placed it to his ear. "David? This is Zachary Howard. I'm standing outside 412 Maple Drive. Freeze all moving permits for this property immediately, and file an emergency injunction on the deed transfer. Put a lien on account ending in 8042."
Brenda’s smirk vanished instantly. "Who do you think you are? You can't just freeze accounts!"
"I am the owner of Howard Legal Group and the Chief Executive Chairman of St. Luke Health Network," Zachary replied, his voice deadly calm. "Which means I employ the best litigation lawyers in this state. And Dr. Miller here just saved my daughter's life while your son was playing dress-up with her stolen money."
Brenda turned pale. Everyone in San Antonio knew the Howard family name. They owned half the commercial real estate in the city and funded the hospital's entire research wing.
Zachary turned to the movers. "Drop the furniture. If another box leaves this porch, I will personally see to it that your haulage company loses its commercial operating license by sunset."
The two movers immediately dropped the vanity onto the lawn, got into their truck, and sped away without saying a word.

Brenda stood alone on the porch, her tea glass shaking in her hand. "You... you can't meddle in private family affairs!"
"This isn't a family affair anymore, Mrs. Foster," Zachary said, stepping closer to her. "This is a crime scene. And you have five minutes to get off Dr. Miller's property before my security team arrives to remove you."
