Chapter 6 - The IP Address

Zachary swiped through the files on the screen. "Our IT security department traced the IP address that accessed Dr. Miller’s internal portal and submitted those fake complaints. Do you know where that IP was located, Gemma?"

Gemma swallowed hard, backing toward the door. "I... I don't know anything about computers."

"It came from your apartment," Zachary said coldly. "The same apartment where Andrew spent three nights a week while telling Samantha he was working late at his firm."

Andrew turned to Gemma, his mouth hanging open. "What? Gemma, you told me Sam was the one filing false logs to get time off!"

"Shut up, Andrew!" Gemma snapped, her voice cracking under the pressure.

"Not only that," Zachary continued, stepping closer to the trembling couple. "We pulled the security footage from the hospital parking lot from two weeks ago. You met with one of our junior administrative clerks and paid her two thousand dollars to delay the internal dispatch notification on emergency cases assigned to Dr. Miller."

I gasped. "You... you delayed emergency alerts? Gemma, patients could have died!"

"You had everything!" Gemma suddenly screamed, losing all control. "You were the brilliant surgeon! You had the money, the career, the glowing reputation! Andrew was supposed to be mine from college! You took him from me!"

"I took him?" I scoffed, tears finally spilling over my lashes. "You shoved him into my life! You were the one who introduced us!"

"Because I wanted you to build him up so I could take him when he was ready!" Gemma shrieked.

The two hospital guards stepped forward, instantly grabbing Gemma by her arms.

"Gemma Salas," Dr. Vance said with absolute disgust. "You are banned from St. Luke facilities effective immediately. The hospital board is filing criminal charges against you for unauthorized access to medical records and endangerment."
