Chapter 11 - The Inheritance of Ashes

The ink on the federal forfeiture orders was barely dry when the first true test of my leadership arrived. With Charles and Julian locked away in a federal penitentiary in Indiana, the corporate board expected me to quietly liquidate the remaining assets and hand the scraps over to foreign creditors. Instead, I called an emergency press conference in the grand atrium of Vale Tower.
As flashbulbs illuminated the soaring glass ceilings, I stood at the podium without a teleprompter or a PR handler whispering in my ear.

We are recalling every single defective electric vehicle, refunding every cheated consumer, and turning our manufacturing lines over to union workers with full living wages and equity shares."
A collective gasp echoed through the room. At the back of the atrium, Arthur Vale—now my most trusted ally on the board—slowly started to clap. Within seconds, the entire room erupted into thunderous applause.
