Chapter 15 - The Shareholders' ShowdownThe annual shareholders' meeting was held in the grand auditorium of the Chicago Cultural Center. Over four hundred investors, board members, financial analysts, and journalists filled the velvet-draped seats, their murmurs creating a low, restless hum under the magnificent Tiffany glass dome.

I walked onto the stage wearing a sharp ivory pantsuit, my stride calm and unyielding. In the front row sat Marcus Sterling—a cold, silver-haired man in a bespoke charcoal suit who sneered as I took my place behind the podium.

"Before we begin the official proxy vote," I said into the microphone, my voice echoing clearly across the vast room, "I’d like to introduce a special guest who has been pulling the strings behind the scenes."

Sterling’s sneer vanished. He stood up abruptly, pointing a shaking finger at me. "This is an outrage! We are here to vote on corporate restructuring, not your personal paranoia!"

"Actually, Mr. Sterling—or should I call you by your real name, Viktor Vance, Charles Vale’s former offshore fixer?" I pressed a button on my console, projecting a massive federal arrest warrant onto the giant auditorium screen behind me.

Simultaneously, heavy oak doors at the back of the auditorium swung open. Federal marshals marched down the center aisle, their badges gleaming under the chandeliers, heading straight for Sterling’s row.
