Chapter 5 - THE EVICTION NOTICE

Luca snatched the manila folder from my hands, ripping it open with trembling fingers. Papers spilled across the kitchen island—financial audits, hotel receipts, credit card statements, and the certified legal notification of his termination from Vance Industrial Distribution.

“What is this garbage?” he spat out, though his voice lacked its previous thunder.

“That is the audit of every corporate dime you spent on Chloe over the last fourteen months,” I replied smoothly. “Every luxury hotel in Cabo, every designer handbag, every Michelin-starred dinner charged to the company’s emergency expense account. Embezzlement from a primary corporate entity is a federal offense, Luca. Rachel filed the initial charges this afternoon.”

Luca froze. The color drained entirely from his face, leaving him looking pasty and hollowed out. “You… you audited me? How did you even access those accounts?”

“Your father gave me blanket administrative clearance three weeks ago,” I said, stepping closer to him. “Along with the updated deeds to this house.”

Luca let out a harsh, breathless laugh. “This house is mine! My name is on the deed!”

“Your name was on the primary deed,” I corrected him, pulling out a single sheet of paper stamped with a notary’s gold seal. “When Arthur amended his estate trust, he exercised an obscure reversionary clause tied to your father-in-law’s original land grant from 1982. This house does not belong to you, Luca. It belongs to the trust. And as the primary trustee and legal custodian for our children, I am officially serving you with an eviction notice.”

Luca stared at the paper, his hands shaking so violently the pages fluttered to the floor. “You can’t do this. I have nowhere to go. Chloe lives in a cramped apartment—she’s expecting me to move into a mansion!”

“Then I suggest you call Chloe and let her know that her meal ticket just filed for bankruptcy,” I said coldly.
