Chapter 9 - A Moment of ReflectionBefore stepping out to meet the board, Clare walked over to the panoramic window. She looked down at the bustling Chicago streets far below, watching the tiny yellow cabs weave through the grid of traffic.

She thought back to Courtroom 14—to the sound of Daniel’s condescending laughter, to the cold sleet tapping against the window, and to the moment she opened her folder to reveal the truth he never expected her to find.

For a decade, she had believed that love required compromise and that endurance meant staying quiet while someone else took the credit. She had learned the hardest way possible that true strength isn't found in what we endure, but in the courage to stand up, look the lie in the eye, and audit our own lives.

A soft knock sounded at her office door, and Marcus stepped inside, holding two cups of coffee and a fresh stack of architectural blueprints.

"Ready to conquer the city, boss?" Marcus asked with a bright, supportive grin.

Clare turned away from the window, her eyes shining with absolute confidence and unshakeable peace.

"Always, Marcus," she said, walking toward the door. "Always."
