Chapter 11 - Whispers Behind BarsThe iron bars of the federal penitentiary in Florence, Colorado, cast long, jagged shadows across Brandon Prescott’s concrete floor. Once accustomed to silk sheets and customized penthouses, Brandon now spent his days staring at chipped gray walls, the silence interrupted only by the distant, metallic clanging of heavy security doors.


"Mail call, Prescott!" a guard barked, tossing a single white envelope through the slot.
Brandon didn’t move for a long time. His hands, once manicured and adorned with expensive watches, were rough and calloused from prison labor. Slowly, he crawled across the floor and picked up the envelope. There was no return address.

Inside was a single glossy photograph. It showed Victoria, radiant in an emerald silk dress, holding a toddler with dark, bright eyes against the backdrop of a sprawling Montana estate. Across the bottom of the photo, written in sharp, elegant handwriting, were five words: We are still thriving, Brandon.
He let out a choked, guttural cry, crumpling the picture into a tight ball before his knees gave out entirely.
