Chapter 8 - Shadows in the CourtroomThe courtroom of the Federal District Court of Montana was packed to maximum capacity. Journalists, legal experts, and curious onlookers spilled into the aisles, eager to witness the trial of the decade.

At the defense table, Brandon looked gaunt and hollow-eyed in his striped orange jumpsuit. He didn't dare look toward the gallery. He didn't have to. He could feel the heavy, suffocating weight of the room directed entirely at him.

In the front row of the plaintiff's gallery sat Victoria Prescott.

She wore a classic black Chanel suit, her posture immaculate, her expression an unreadable mask of absolute authority. Beside her sat her legal team, stacked with binders containing thousands of pages of irrefutable evidence.

When the judge entered, the courtroom stood in unison.

"State versus Brandon Prescott," Judge Harrison announced, adjusting his glasses. "The defense may present its opening statement."

Brandon’s court-appointed attorney stood up, looking visibly defeated. "Your Honor, the defense... waives its opening statement at this time."

A murmur rippled through the gallery.

Victoria didn't flinch. She simply opened a sleek leather portfolio on her lap and pulled out a single document: the amended corporate charter of the Sterling-Prescott Global Enterprises, now renamed solely to Sterling Holdings.

Brandon was officially erased.
