Chapter 13 - The Confrontation at the ChaletThirty-six hours later, Victoria’s private jet touched down in Kalispell, Montana. She didn't head back to her main estate; instead, she drove straight to the isolated alpine chalet where Marcus Vance lived off the grid.

The heavy wooden door of the cabin was unlocked. Victoria pushed it open, her hand slipping inside her tailored coat to grip the handle of a licensed firearm.

"Marcus," she called out, her voice echoing in the rustic living room.

Footsteps echoed from the hallway, and Marcus stepped into the dim light. He wasn't wearing his usual rescue gear; instead, he wore a tailored suit, looking every bit the corporate executive rather than a mountain ranger. On the table behind him sat an open laptop displaying live bank transfers.

"I was wondering when you'd figure it out, Victoria," Marcus said calmly, pouring himself a glass of whiskey.

"You saved my life," Victoria said, stepping forward with her eyes blazing. "You pulled me off that ledge. Was it all an act? Were you working with Brandon from the start?"

Marcus chuckled softly, swirling the amber liquid in his glass. "Not with Brandon. Brandon was an idiot playing a high-stakes game he didn't understand. No, Victoria... I was watching you."
