Chapter 5 - The Corporate ExecutionThe senior managing partner, Arthur Vance, swallowed hard, pushing his glasses up his nose. He had been Ethan’s primary enabler, looking the other way while fraudulent asset transfers were rubber-stamped through the firm.

"Mrs. Miller... or rather, Ms. Vance-Sterling," Arthur stammered, checking his notes. "We weren't aware that you were medically cleared to return to corporate oversight. Furthermore, the board is currently evaluating emergency measures to stabilize stock prices after Mr. Miller's... unfortunate detention."

"Unfortunate detention?" I raised an eyebrow, sliding a thick legal binder across the mahogany table with a sharp thud. "Let's call it what it is, Arthur: a long-overdue correction."

I opened the binder to a flagged page highlighted in fluorescent yellow.

"According to Section 4 of the primary corporate charter—which hasn't been amended since my father founded this firm—any executive officer arrested for felony crimes involving moral turpitude, domestic violence, or corporate fraud is immediately stripped of all voting shares and executive privileges."

Arthur glanced down at the page, his face turning pale. "That clause... that was drafted twenty years ago. It was supposed to be symbolic."

"Nothing my father wrote was symbolic, Arthur," I replied coldly. "And as the sole holder of the Class A voting trust, I am exercising my right to dissolve the current executive board effective immediately."

The other two directors began to protest, slamming their hands on the table.

"You can't do that!" shouted Marcus, the chief legal counsel. "We control fifty percent of the operational capital! Without us, the company liquidates within forty-eight hours!"

I smiled, leaning forward and resting my elbows on the table.

"Let it burn," I whispered. "Because out of those ashes, the original asset recovery fund—the one Ethan spent five years trying to hollow out—is being restored under my direct management. Every single dollar you helped him siphon offshore has been traced, frozen, and subpoenaed by the federal district attorney."

Marcus stopped shouting. His mouth stayed open, but no words came out. They had thought they were partners in a grand empire, but they were nothing more than accomplices riding in a sinking car.
