Chapter 7 - The Final Confrontation in CourtThe federal courtroom was packed to capacity. Reporters, financial analysts, and curious onlookers filled every wooden bench, craning their necks to catch a glimpse of the high-flying corporate executive brought low by his own greed.

Judge Sarah Henderson presided over the district court with an unyielding reputation for crushing white-collar criminals. As she entered the courtroom, the bailiff’s call echoed through the halls: "All rise for the United States District Court..."
Ethan sat at the defense table flanked by a overworked public defender who looked like he wanted nothing more than to disappear into the woodwork. Margaret sat behind him in the gallery, her face sunken, muttering frantic prayers under her breath.
I sat in the front row of the prosecution's gallery, flanked by Dr. Rachel Carter and the lead federal investigator. My physical burns were healing beneath layers of specialized silk clothing, but my posture was completely upright—unbroken, unbowed, and utterly unstoppable.
"The prosecution calls the primary plaintiff and estate trustee," the federal prosecutor announced, looking back at me with a respectful nod.
I stood, smoothing down my coat, and walked with measured, deliberate steps toward the witness stand. Every eye in the courtroom locked onto me.
As I placed my hand on the Bible and swore the oath, I looked directly across the room at Ethan.
He tried to meet my gaze, tried to summon one last flash of intimidation, but his eyes faltered. He looked away, staring down at the polished wooden table where his ruined life was about to be officially written into the history books.

"State your name and relation to the defendant for the record," Judge Henderson instructed gently.
"My name is Victoria Sterling-Miller," I said, my voice ringing clear and strong through the courtroom microphone, carrying to every corner of the room. "And I am here to ensure that justice finishes what cowardice started."
