Chapter 10 - A New Empire

Three months later, the courtyard of the Moretti estate was filled with the soft, melodic sound of a child's laughter—a sound that had never once echoed across the ancient marble stones in the history of the syndicate.
Lorenzo Moretti stood on the second-floor balcony, a cup of black coffee in his hand, watching as a little girl in a yellow summer dress chased a white butterfly across the manicured lawns. Behind her, walking slowly with a renewed strength and grace, was Clara—her hand resting gently on the railing as she smiled at her daughter.
Victor and Valerie were long gone, their trial handled quietly in the subterranean courts of the underworld, their assets absorbed into the expanding Moretti foundation. The dark secrets of the past had finally been brought to light, burned away by the harsh reality of truth and the relentless fire of a mother's love.
Marco stepped out onto the balcony, holding a fresh dossier. "Boss, the shipping routes from Marseilles are secured. The council accepted the new terms without a single objection."
Lorenzo didn't look away from the lawn below. He watched as Clara turned her head upward, catching his gaze from the balcony. She didn't look down or look away like a servant anymore. She met his eyes with a fierce, equal warmth, offering a small, knowing smile that made his chest tighten with something far more powerful than authority or fear.

"Let them know the terms have changed, Marco," Lorenzo said quietly, taking a sip of his coffee. "From now on, the Moretti family doesn't just rule the shadows. We protect what belongs to us."
Down below, Lily waved her small hand frantically toward the balcony, shouting, "Daddy! Come down and play!"
