Chapter 18 - The Final Resolution

Lorenzo cut his engines immediately, the sudden silence of the open ocean broken only by the whistling wind and the rhythmic crashing of the waves. He killed the steering, grabbed a heavy boarding rope, and vaulted across the wreckage onto the deck of Julian’s ruined vessel.
Inside the cabin, Lily was crying hysterically, huddled in the corner. Lorenzo smashed the jammed cabin door open with a single kick, dropping to his knees and scooping the trembling little girl into his arms.
"I've got you, Lily," Lorenzo murmured, his voice softening instantly as he cradled her against his chest, burying her face in his shoulder so she couldn't see the carnage around them. "You're safe now. Daddy’s got you."
"Daddy?" Lily sobbed, her little arms wrapping around his neck with a grip so tight it felt like a lifeline. "Mommy said you would come."
"Always," Lorenzo vowed.
He carried her out onto the deck just as Julian hauled himself out of the water, clinging desperately to the submerged gunwale of the wreckage. Julian was coughing up seawater, shivering uncontrollably, his eyes wide with a mixture of hatred and sheer terror as he looked up at the towering figure of Lorenzo holding the child.
"Go ahead," Julian spat, wiping salt water from his scarred face. "Kill me. The council... the council already knows about the ledger. Even if you kill me, another capos will take my place. You can't kill them all, Lorenzo!"
Lorenzo didn't pull a gun. He stood tall on the tilting deck, holding his daughter securely with one arm, looking down at the man who had tried to steal everything he loved.

"I don't need to kill them all, Julian," Lorenzo said coldly. "Because unlike you, I am no longer fighting for an empire built on fear. I am building something that will outlive us both."
Before Julian could lunge forward, a sleek Moretti tactical helicopter dropped out of the heavy clouds above, hovering low over the wreckage, lowering a security team onto the hull to secure the prisoner. Julian was hauled away in chains, his syndicate dismantled in a single morning, his legacy erased from the underworld forever.
