Chapter 5 - THE WEB OF THE STERLING DYNASTY

The rain had turned into a torrential downpour as Harrison’s motorcade sped through the dark streets of Detroit toward Sterling Memorial Hospital. Benjamin sat beside him in the back of the bulletproof Maybach, wrapped in a heated cashmere blanket, sipping warm broth while watching the flashing red and blue lights of the police escorts outside.

“Is Mama going to be okay?” Benjamin asked, his small fingers clutching Harrison’s sleeve.

“She’s going to be fine, Benny. I promise you,” Harrison said, though his mind was racing with dark calculations.

The moment they arrived at the hospital, Chloe, Madison, and Zoe were rushed into the pediatric intensive care unit, surrounded by the finest doctors and state-of-the-art equipment money could buy. Harrison had stationed four armed guards outside their door. No one—absolutely no one—was getting near his children.

But Sarah was still missing.

Harrison strode into a private VIP consultation room, slamming the door behind him. He pulled out his satellite phone and dialed a private investigator he had kept on retainer for high-stakes corporate espionage.

“Logan. Find Sarah Parker. Trace her phone’s last ping.”

“Mr. Sterling, we already did,” Logan replied grimly. “Her phone signal stopped transmitting twenty minutes ago at an abandoned industrial warehouse near the old docks. And… you’re going to want to see who owns that property.”

“Whose is it?”

“Your father’s holding company, Sterling Logistics. Furthermore, our traffic cameras caught a black Lincoln Navigator—registered to your stepmother, Victoria Vance—forcing Sarah’s bus off the route near the harbor.”

Fury, cold and absolute, surged through Harrison’s veins.

Victoria and Arthur Sterling had known about Sarah and the children all along. When Benjamin’s phone call went through to Harrison, the corporate wiretaps installed by his father’s security team must have alerted them instantly. They had abducted Sarah to silence her before she could reunite with him.

“Get a tactical unit ready,” Harrison ordered, his voice dropping an octave into a lethal register. “We are going to my father’s estate.”

“Sir, your father is still one of the most powerful men in the country. If we storm his private compound—?”

“Let him try to stop me,” Harrison interrupted. “He took eight years of my life. He took eight years of my children’s lives. If he laid a single finger on Sarah, I will dismantle his entire empire brick by brick and leave him with nothing.”
