Chapter 10 - CheckmateThe silence in the penthouse suite was absolute. Outside, the Zurich lights twinkled like a million distant stars, indifferent to the destruction happening inside the room.

Evelyn stared at the divorce papers on the table. Her hands shook violently as she reached down, picked up the gold-plated pen, and slowly signed her name on the dotted line. The Vance matriarch had finally met her match, and she knew when the war was lost.
Julian followed suit a moment later, a single tear of utter defeat slipping down his cheek as he handed the pen back to me.
"It's done," Julian whispered, his voice hollow. "You won."
I picked up the signed documents, checked the signatures with clinical precision, and slipped them back into my folder.
"You still don't get it, Julian," I said, pausing at the door as I looked back at them one last time. "Survival isn't about what people take from you. It's about what you refuse to let them touch."
I walked out of the suite, leaving them in the ruins of the empire they thought they controlled.
Down in the lobby, Kenji was waiting for me by a sleek black town car with the engine running. He opened the door for me, a grin plastered across his face.
"Well, Boss?" Kenji asked as I slid into the leather backseat. "Where to next?"

I looked out the window at the glittering city, feeling the weight of the past completely lift from my shoulders.
"Home, Kenji," I smiled, pulling out my new satellite phone and watching the sunrise break over the horizon. "It's time to build a new kingdom."
