Chapter 3 - The Asset RecoveryThe secure terminal in Kenji’s back-alley hideout hummed as lines of cascading code filled the monitor.

"Alright, let's look at what your dear husband left behind," Kenji muttered, typing furiously. "He wiped your consumer accounts, but he forgot about the structural holdings. Classic corporate arrogance. They think personal wealth is tied to checking accounts."
"Julian is a paper tiger," I said, sipping the bitter black coffee. "Evelyn is the one with teeth. If she orchestrated this evacuation, she didn't just dump me in Tokyo to get rid of me. She’s setting up the board for something bigger. Our company merger with Kurozawa Tech is happening in three days in Zurich. If I'm not there to sign off as the primary stakeholder..."
"They dilute your shares to zero," Kenji finished, his fingers stopping mid-stroke. He glanced sideways at me. "Wait. You are the primary stakeholder? Everyone thought the mystery venture capitalist backing Kurozawa was an offshore entity."
"Surprise," I murmured dryly. "When you marry into old money, you learn real quick never to put your real net worth on a marriage certificate. Julian thought he married a penniless orphan he could mold. Little did he know, I was the one funding his startup’s seed round through a blind trust."
Kenji burst out laughing, a deep, booming sound that rattled the empty coffee mugs on his desk. "Oh, holy hell. They just kicked a sleeping dragon out of the nest and locked the door from the outside."
"Help me draft the execution order," I said, my tone hardening. "Let's pull up the flight manifests for their private charter. Flight V-904 heading to San Francisco, connecting to Zurich."
"Already tracking it," Kenji said, tapping a key. "They're mid-flight right now over the northern Pacific. No satellite Wi-Fi activated yet. They think they're safe in the air."
"Not for long," I whispered. "Send a ping to the Federal Aviation Administration's secondary routing node. Flag their charter for a mandatory customs and security diversion due to an unregistered asset mismatch."

Kenji's eyes widened. "You're going to ground their private jet?"
"No," I smiled coldly. "I'm going to make them land in Alaska for a 'random' eight-hour structural inspection while I board a direct supersonic flight to Zurich to take their seats at the boardroom table."
