Chapter 14 - An Unexpected VisitorLater that afternoon, as I stepped out of the Kurozawa tower and into the private courtyard where Kenji’s town car was idling, a frail, trembling figure stepped out from behind a concrete pillar.

It was Julian.

He looked ten years older. His designer suit was wrinkled, his hair uncombed, and the arrogant glint in his eyes had been completely extinguished, replaced by a hollow, pathetic desperation.

"Victoria," he choked out, taking a halting step forward.

Kenji immediately moved to block his path, his hand resting casually inside his jacket, but I raised a hand to stop him.

"Let him speak, Kenji," I said quietly, stepping forward.

Julian stopped a few feet away from me, his shoulders shaking. "Please... I know we deserve everything you've done. I know what Mother did was monstrous. But... please, Victoria. Just a fraction. A small trust fund. We have nothing left."

I looked at him—this man who had kissed my forehead, whispered promises of forever, and then coldly watched as his family orchestrated my midnight abandonment in a foreign country without a passport or a voice.

"When you and your mother dumped me in Tokyo," I said, my voice barely above a whisper, yet carrying the weight of a sledgehammer, "you didn't just abandon a wife. You awakened the exact person you spent years trying to suppress."

"We're family—" Julian began, his voice breaking.

"Family doesn't lock the door from the outside," I interrupted coldly. "You wanted me to be a helpless orphan with nowhere to turn. Well, Julian... look at me now. Do I look helpless?"

May you like

Julian stared at me, the harsh reality finally crashing over him like a tidal wave. There was no mercy here. There was only absolute justice.

Without another word, I turned around, slid into the backseat of the town car, and closed the heavy door, sealing him out of my world forever.
