Chapter 10 - The DynastyFive years later.

The grand ballroom of the Moretti Chicago estate was filled with laughter, music, and the bright chatter of family and friends. It was the tenth wedding anniversary of Dante and Lena Moretti—and this time, nothing was left to chance.
Running across the imported marble floor were two five-year-old dynamos: a sharp-eyed little boy chasing his twin sister around their grandfather’s legs, laughing wildly as Dante pretended to surrender to their playful attack.
Lena stood by the terrace doors in a stunning emerald-green silk gown, holding a glass of sparkling cider, watching her husband and children with a heart overflowing with peace.
Dante caught her eye across the crowded room. Even after a decade of marriage, his gaze still held that magnetic, absolute intensity—the look of a man who knew he had nearly lost everything, and treasured every single second he was given.
He excused himself from the twins, walked through the murmuring crowd of Chicago's elite, and stepped out onto the terrace beside her, wrapping his arms around her waist from behind and resting his chin on her shoulder.
"Penny for your thoughts, Mrs. Moretti?" Dante murmured against her ear.
Lena leaned back into his embrace, smiling as she watched their children chase each other under the fairy lights.
"I was just thinking about that night in your office," Lena whispered softly. "The anniversary dinner on the floor. The broken bag, the rain, and the hotel room."
Dante went quiet for a moment, tightening his arms around her as a wave of old guilt flickered across his face. He kissed her neck gently. "I still regret every second of that pain I caused you, Lena."
"Don't," Lena turned around in his arms, wrapping her hands around his neck and looking up into his dark, steadfast eyes with a radiant smile. "If you hadn't looked away that night... if I hadn't walked out... I never would have found my own strength. We never would have discovered what we were truly capable of surviving together."
She gestured toward the ballroom where their twins were laughing, full of life, light, and future promise.

"You thought you were just building a criminal empire, Dante," Lena whispered, rising on her tiptoes to kiss his lips. "Instead... you built a dynasty."
Dante smiled, his dark eyes shining with profound pride and eternal devotion. He pulled her flush against his chest, knowing that whatever shadows lingered in the world outside, his true kingdom was right here in her arms.
