Chapter 19 - The Final DepartureTwo weeks later, the chaos had settled back into the quiet luxury of the Moretti estate.

The threat from the Sicilian syndicate had been permanently neutralized, their assets absorbed into the Moretti legitimate shipping conglomerates, and the family’s name was once again untouchable in Chicago.
Lena was standing on the back terrace, watching the twin children play soccer on the immaculate lawn, when soft footsteps approached behind her.
"A letter arrived for you at the downtown office this morning," Dante said quietly, holding a plain, unsealed envelope.
Lena turned around, taking the envelope from his hand. "From whom?"
"Read it," Dante urged softly.
Lena pulled out a single sheet of paper written in a familiar, hurried handwriting:
Lena,
By the time you read this, I’ll be thousands of miles away from Chicago. I tried to play a game I wasn't equipped to win, and I lost. I don't ask for your forgiveness—I know I don't deserve it. But I wanted you to know that the night in the office ten years ago wasn't entirely a lie; I envied what you had with Dante because it was real, even when it broke. Take care of your family. You won.
— Sofia
Lena folded the letter slowly, slipping it back into the envelope. She felt no anger, no bitterness—only a quiet, profound sense of closure.
"She's gone," Lena murmured.
"Permanently," Dante confirmed, wrapping his arms around her shoulders and resting his chin against her head. "She crossed international borders before our teams could intercept, but she knows if she ever sets foot in North America again, she won't survive the day."
Lena leaned back against him, feeling the solid, unbreakable rhythm of his heart. The ghosts of the past—the perfume, the betrayal, the warehouse ambushes, and the dark secrets—had finally been laid to rest.
"Are we safe now, Dante?" Lena whispered, looking up into his dark eyes.

Dante smiled, a warm, genuine expression that belonged only to her and their children. He reached into his pocket, pulled out a small velvet box, and opened it to reveal a matching diamond eternity band to complete her anniversary set.
"Always, my love," Dante whispered, slipping the ring onto her finger. "Always."
