Chapter 14 - The Gathering StormThe next morning, the financial district of Manhattan buzzed with frantic energy. The front page of every major newspaper featured bold, screaming headlines:

EMPIRE OF GREED: WHITMORE CORP UNCOVERS DEEP-ROOTED CORPORATE CONSPIRACY LINKED TO CONVICTED FELON RICHARD STERLING.
Inside the soaring glass skyscraper of Whitmore Corporation, emergency board meetings were being called. Junior executives who had once bowed to Richard’s intimidation now scrambled to distance themselves from his wreckage.
Arthur Whitmore sat at the head of the boardroom table, flanked by federal investigators and corporate legal counsel. Elena stood beside him, presenting a comprehensive restructuring plan that left the board members utterly spellbound.
“For too long, corporate governance has been treated as an old boys' club where sociopaths can trade ethics for profit,” Elena stated, her voice echoing clearly through the high-tech conference room. “That era ends today.”
The lead federal prosecutor nodded in agreement, sliding a thick stack of subpoena documents across the table. “With the evidence provided by Ms. Elena Whitmore, our office is expanding the investigation. We are issuing arrest warrants for three sitting board members who aided Richard Sterling in covering up corporate fraud and money laundering.”
