Chapter 28 - The Right SeatThe wedding of Emma Carter and Marcus Vance was not held in a stuffy hotel ballroom, nor was it a spectacle designed to impress venture capitalists.

It was held in the grand atrium of the newly constructed Carter Community Center in downtown Boston—the very building Emma had built from the ashes of Ethan's deceit.

The guest list included the construction workers who had built the center, the engineers who had stayed loyal to the company, and the families whose lives had been changed by Emma’s philanthropic trusts.

When Emma walked down the aisle in a stunning, custom-designed silk gown, the room fell into a reverent, awestruck silence. She didn't look like a placeholder. She looked like a queen.

At the front of the room, there was no six-person head table designed to isolate the bride.

Instead, there was a beautiful, intimate sweetheart table set for two, positioned perfectly at the center of the room. It was draped in cream linen, illuminated by low candles, and adorned with white garden roses.

As Emma took her seat beside Marcus, their shoulders touched. He leaned over, kissing her temple softly.

"Perfect seat?" Marcus whispered.

"The best in the house," Emma smiled, looking out at a room full of people who genuinely loved and respected her.
