Chapter 17 - The Fall of City HallBy noon, the media storm broke with unprecedented fury. Live news helicopters hovered over Chicago City Hall as federal agents in tactical gear marched through the front doors, carrying multiple boxes of seized evidence.

“Breaking News: Federal authorities have raided the office of Chief Planning Commissioner Arthur Sterling amid explosive corruption and racketeering allegations linked to the Whitmore-Bennett corporate scandal.”

Inside her office, Claire watched the live broadcast on her tablet while rocking baby Maya gently in her arms. Marcus stood by the window, a rare smile breaking across his usually stern face.

"The state attorney general just issued an official statement," Marcus reported, checking his phone. "Commissioner Sterling and three other senior city officials have been taken into custody. The emergency injunctions on our municipal development bids have been permanently lifted."

Claire let out a long, quiet breath, feeling a massive weight lift from her shoulders. She had won. Not just a legal battle, but a war against an entire system built on corruption and deceit.

"And Victoria Hale?" Claire asked.

"She cooperated with federal prosecutors as per our agreement," Marcus replied. "Her assets were seized, but she received immunity from criminal prosecution on the condition that she leaves the state permanently. She’s catching a flight to New York this afternoon."

Claire nodded slowly, looking down at her sleeping daughter. "Good. Let her start over somewhere else. We have a company to run."
