Chapter 7 - The Final SignatureBack in the conference room, the digital clock on the wall clicked toward 5:00 PM. The winter sun had dipped below the Chicago skyline, casting long, bruised shadows across the table.

Jonathan held the heavy metal pen between his fingers. His hand shook so violently that the ink blotched against the signature line.

"You’re destroying our family," Jonathan whispered, a final, pathetic attempt to evoke guilt.

"Our family was destroyed the moment you decided my trust was a weakness to be exploited," Claire said, standing up from her chair and buttoning her blazer. She gathered her files with calm, deliberate movements. "The baby and I are moving forward, Jonathan. You’re welcome to spend your prison sentence pondering where your greed got you."

With a ragged breath, Jonathan pressed the pen hard against the paper and scrawled his name across the dotted line. The ink dried quickly, sealing his fate and transferring every asset, title, and controlling share back to the woman he had underestimated.

As Claire turned toward the door, Marcus stepped in to collect the signed documents, giving Jonathan a polite, clinical nod.
